Thailand Trip: Part 1

We had a fabulous trip to Thailand in mid-October for the kids fall break!  We flew a quick 2 hours from Singapore into Phuket Island, where we then hopped in a van and drove about 1-1/2 hours North to the beautiful area of Khao Lak.  This area has great beaches and is surrounded by natural forests.  It is green and lush and just lovely.  We stayed at the JW Marriott and it was a treat!  We loved the Thai architecture and we could hop off our balcony into the pool which wound throughout the entire property.  They also have a resident elephant that came out every day for the guests to feed.

The real treat was the 8 or so beach huts which were just down the beach from our hotel.  These huts offered wonderful local food, massages, tours, etc.  You name it, these places did it!!  Would even do your laundry!!  It was a super authentic experience and allowed us to "get off resort" in just a 5 minute walk.  We ended up trying every restaurant and the food was unbelievable, along with the view!  They cooked on a sand floor, with thatched roof's and the kids found the potty's quite interesting :)  So cozy, quaint and real.  We also had multiple Thai massages (only $10 a pop!) and Mia had fun getting her hair braided and nails done!

The Thai people are so nice and it was fun to get to know the locals.  This was our first LONG vacation with the kids and they did great!  They were little beach bums and entertained themselves so well, Nate & I actually felt like we got a break :)

Who's that cute boy at the bar??!!

Amazing sunsets in KL

BRAIDS!!!

While, mommy got a massage :)

Not so sure of the drink he ordered, apparently looked better than it tasted!
